Perfumes, Cosmetics and me

There’s no lost love between perfumes and me. I’ve always hated the scent that I can’t seem to get rid of.

Cosmetics are another thing that’s never had a place in my life. I still remember the 1st time I had make-up. I was 10 years old. It was my grand-parent’s golden wedding anniversary. The whole family was part of the entourage for the church ceremony, and everyone was dressed and made-up. My godmother put make-up on me, and I felt ill at ease the whole day. Never again in my life did I ever put make-up!

Allergies

In retrospect, I think my aversion to perfume and cosmetics is my body’s way of telling me that they’re bad for me. As I became older, I showed allergic reactions to quite a few substances that manifested themselves as swelling, itching, and burning sensations on my face, eyes, mouth, throat, as well as on other parts of my body, and even triggering asthma attacks in some cases.

Search for Activity

As a young adult, I was in a car accident that seemingly left me unscathed. Only later, after years of working as an analyst programmer, and becoming practically paralysed, a radiologist traced my problem back to the accident almost 20 years prior.

Unable to work on the computer for long periods, my quest for an alternative occupation led me to pay careful attention to my health, as well as my family’s, and eventually the environment’s.

The search for healthy products naturally compelled me to use only natural materials, from food, to personal care, to cleaning, and even to home decoration, with candles being one of them.

And BeAmbiance was born!

I want BeAmbiance to be more than just a store. My goal is to encourage self-expression and ethical responsibility.

BeAmbiance is a woman-owned small business and I formed it because I care.
